In spring 2017, I conducted research with the New England Aquarium and Boston Harbor Cruises to monitor and document marine mammal activity in Stellwagen Bank off the coast of Massachusetts.
For this research internship, I collected data on marine mammal type, individual, location, and behavior, in addition to data on weather and sea conditions. I also took photographs to aid in identifying individual humpback, right, and fin whales.
When not recording data, I educated whale watch passengers on local marine ecology, Boston maritime history, safe boating practices, and environmental practices.
